Radiant Skin..... The Natural Way

I know I'll be right if I said most peeps will go to any length to have that smooth and flawless skin. We spend lots of money buying skin care and beauty products to achieve this. Have we ever thot of the effects some of these products have on our skin since they consist of so many harmful chemicals. Did you knoe that our skin absorbs upto 60% of what we put on our skin? Yes folks. So how abt we choose the natural and healthier way to the radiant skin. Pictures below give us a list and guide of natural oils and foods that can help us accomplish this.

AM Modelling Agency Anniversary and Fashion Show...... Red Carpet Moments

The much awaited event of the month has come and gone and boy did folks put a new definition to glitz and glam. A fashion show quickly turned into a fashion competition as folks trickled in looking amah-zing.

The main lady, Amanda Matangira looked stunning in a purple and white gown custom made by Lorantofu. That gown was a definite A+ of the night (not that we were suprised). Loved how it brought out Amanda's full structure making her the jewel of the night.

StyleArchivezw's blogger and stylist Bakari, well I can't say much for fear of bias buh the people spoke. Dressed by Cyril designs, he managed to bring out 'black tie' from the casual garments he wore. As said before,, no bias.. *winks

The event was also graced by her majesty, Queen of couture, Annie G. Dressed by, well herself we couldn't help but drool. She took vintage to a whole new level (which was her own level) yet looking chic. When it comes to this lady, we all knoe she olwaiz accessorize to kill. Loved how she used red in small proportions which made the whole look mncwaaah. We love her (well I do)

Our very own Byo stylist, Welsham was also in the front seat. With this young man all we expect sophistication, style and glam to combine it all. I mean wat wud we expect from a gentlemen who was featured on Men's Journal recently. Dressed by a combination of the best designers we all knoe this fashionista is an 'activist' for a combination of vintage look and afroccentric. This tym he decided to minimise on afro print with stylish snood from Ingo Shenyanga and still brought out vintage in his ever-so-stylish blazer from Ara Kani and pants from white cotton. Loved the hat by the way. Afrosoul musician XMile also graced us with his presence. Looking dapper in a blue waistcoat and pants combo from an upcoming designer Lorantofu, we cudnt help buh gaze with jealousy. We can definitely and safely say this young man has got taste for both good music and good clothes.

Fashion designer Sanah from Sanah Designs also wowed us at the red carpet. This young lady olwaiz makes a point that all eyes turn and she did jus that. Wrapped in one of her designs, she rocked bold black mini short with some simple black top. Sannah decided to throw over a rather big blazer on top which made it more amazing and girl was warm.. Clever stunt. Rocking screaming green heels, I thot this was a bold move making me respect her creative and stylish sense.

All I can say is in this event, folks really went out of their way to look amah-zing and to be honest I was really impressed. I've olwaiz dubbed Bulawayo to be the country's fashion hub. To prove this, feast your eyes on the red of the pictures.

Glow In The Dark by Shaith Ndlovu

First of all, y'all not going to believe how I ended up in this show but what remains is that I attended it and loved it.

Held at the National Art Gallery in Bulawayo was the Glow In The Dark fashion exhibition by a student from Chinhoyi University of Technology. Shaith Ndlovu, born and bred in Byo was the reason I sat in that room for approximately 45mins with the best souls (pic below) and to be honest folks, I was impressed.

GlowInTheDark inspired by the beauty we see in the dark especially that of stars, really got me proud of the talent we have in our country let alone in the City of Kings and Queens. Her amazing garments explained the title of the whole exhibition and you could see pure talent as they glowed of different details in the dark. Then she used amazing colours to bring out the originality of the garments when in light. It's such a pity I never got the chance to interview her buh well I managed to grab a selfie with my amazing friends Ayanda (Byo fashion Diarist)  and Sdue (Head designer for LadyRunnaway) (below).

I really can't wait to see more of this amazing ball of creativity considering that she was trained by the best.

StyleArchiveZW's Guide to Black Tie Dress Code

StyleArchiveZW's Guide to Black Tie Dress Code

Black tie wear for men has been essentially unchanged for many years. It evolves subtly over time, but if you stick with certain rules that will make all the difference. When everyone looks the same, you can always notice when someone has done it properly and someone hasn't. So how does one wear black tie ye folks ask, here is how.

The traditional colour for Black Tie dress for men has always been black for decades, but in the recent years we've seen em folks breaking rules and not goin for the black but rather darker shades of blue e.g Midnight navy. When buying your suit, the ideal jacket should have a closed back with no vents at all. Remember the silhouette has to be sleek, neat and nice. If you prefer vented jackets opt for one with side vents, centred vents blow open and show your shirt, which looks messy.

The Trousers Plain hemmed legs with no turn ups are the way to go, pleated for a sharp look or plain flat fronts.

The Shirt Plain white shirt with no fancy tuck detailing on the collar or funny buttons. Choose finely textured white shirts or if u can find it, the pleated bib shirt. Make sure the collar is a turn down collar, wing collars are for White Tie events. Cuff links can either be silver, black or White.

The Tie or Bowtie In most cases the tie should match the texture of the facing of your suit, satin with satin, silk with silk. For the daring, its an opportunity to do something different, a different texture can look great but personally i would never do different colours or prints, it would look funny.
Accesories Braces are a great accesory, they ensure that the trousers stay put throughout the evening, nomatter how much you dance. Shoes, opt for leather pumps for men e.g the Hai Kobo range, or alternatively opt for well shined shoes, slip ons, no brouges! Do wear black socks and your pocket square should coordinate with the rest of the outfit. The Belt, plain black no funny texas buckles or dollar signs. Remember, dress appropriately rather than try making a fashion statement, you might Flop it.

Fashion Facts That'll Blow your Mind

Hey hey folks. So how's been the week for y'all? As for us here at StyleArchivezw, we olwaiz busy tryna bring it to u guys the way you want it.
So this past week as I was doing some reading (as olwaiz), I came up with some of the most interesting fashion facts that, to be honest intrigued me. Who knew that the term 'Retro' refers to clothing items only made to replicate a vintage pattern or style of a different period? Yes I knoe, m now in the light as well. So let's get enlightened abt  the history of our so beloved fashion.

# The four major international fashion shows take place in the following order, first in New York then London then Milan and lastly Paris. These cities hold a show twice in a year that is in February and in September. If you call yoself a fashion lover, you should be knowing this already.

# False eye lashes were first invented in a film called INTOLERANCE in 1916.They were made using human hair woven thru fine gauze. Amazing right!!!

# Coco Chanel (goddess of Fashion) was the first to launch which is now the modern era of perfume in 1921 with her exotic floral blend, Chanel No. 5

# The first issue of Vogue, aka fashion Bible we first published on 17 December 1892 in the USA. I honestly believe this date shud be made a holiday *winks

# A "Grabalogist"  is a person who loves collecting ties. Mmmmmhm

# Christian Louboutin shoes were once available with baby blue soles to enable something blue for bride-to-be but was very short lived due to trademark issues. I'm still failing to picture Loubies with blue soles!

# Alexander McQueen (British designer) committed suicide on Feb 11,2010 just days after his mother's death. It's really been 5yrs!

# One bail of cotton weighing under 500pounds can make 215 pairs of jeans. Someone pliz get me one!

# Men didn't wear underwear until the 17th century. Can only wonder how they survived

So that was all I could share with you fashion folks. I'm glad I could share my enlightenment

Cold Yet Good Looking

So we jus got into winter folks, a season oh-not-so-friendly to some parts of our body. This calls for peeps to make an extra effort in taking care of themselves. This made me realize I can lend a hand in doing some research into this. Our face, hands and feet are in the top three parts of our body that get affected the most by this chilly weather. So how can we take care of these this winter?

SMOOTH AND MORE APPEALING FACE
Our screensaver (as some call it) always gets the larger share when it comes to exposure to terrible weather. It easily loses moisture during winter and becomes dry. Let's focus on how to prevent this
* using richer creams during winter helps as they carry active components that Carey moisture to the deepest skin layers. Apply them in the mrng and especially at night as the regenerative processes in the body are most active during the night.
#- Face is to be scrubbed only once a week. Any more of this will traumatise the skin and make it more sensitive
#- Change of diet. I knoe most are thinking WHAT! buh yes, we doing for the betterment of our skin. Including more oily fish in our meals means more oil to the skin. Also consider more of linseed or walnut oil in our salad dressing instead of olive oil
#- A deep cleaning facial will do good for your skin pores as it gets rid of all the gunk leaving the skin looking amah-zing!

SOFT HANDS
Gentlemen, it's winter, ladies will be trusting on you to get some warmth and the last thing they want is rough hands on their tender skin. Did y'all know that there aren't any oil glands on the palms? So during winter the skin tries to protect itself from the drop in temperature by thickening the outer layer resulting in roughening and cracking. Here are some tips to get them soft and tender:
#- Avoid washing yo hands with ice cold water as this causes the skin to dry and peel.
#- After washing yo hands, dry them immediately to stop hang nails from appearing.
#- Soak yo hands in warm water then scrub them. Dry them thoroughly after and apply a nourishing cream and remove excess with tissue after ten minutes.

CORN, CRACK AND FUNGAL-FREE FEET
During winter we tend to wear heavy footwear and thick socks. If we don't practise strict hygiene, these will be perfect conditions for fungal infections. So how can we keep warm and happy feet? Tips:
#- Washing our feet everyday in warm soapy water goes a long way to healthy feet. Roughened skin can be scrubbed with a pumice stone and then dry your feet thoroughly ESPECIALLY in-between the toes.
#- If you have dry skin, apply moisturising cream, covering the whole foot except in-between the toes.
#- Trim your toe nails using proper nail clippers. Cut them straight across and one should avoid making them too short

So gentlemen..... and ladies, let's keep the amazing looks this cmng winter and don't let this chilly moment bring down yo swagger.. LOL

Ara Kani.. The Creative King

Fashion King. Creative genius. Fashion Icon. That best describes my favorite fashion designer, Ara Kani head designer Nkululeko Ncube. I remember seeing his work for the first tym at Mat Fashion Week (embarassed) and thinking, good Lord this boy is gooood. Then he was named the best male designer of 2014 and that jus topped it all. His Twitter handle, @UncubeOthungayo always reminds me that this guy really knows and loves what he's doing.

I can't  wait for the day wen someone will say "Bakari you look amazing, who u wearing? " and imma say "I'm rocking Ara Kani"

Stylishy Winter...

So fashionistas, winter jus knocked on our doors. For many, it's a terrible season buh I tell u, we can keep the style going. Who said u keep the cold away and still look FAB(ulous)? So how do we maintain our sixth sense(of fashion) on point in this not-so-friendly weather? Y'all heard of trench coats? Yes the old fashioned, super warm piece? This is a must-have for all. Bcoz of its neutrality, this piece means those cold outings are a thing of the past. Ladies, lucky y'all u can have it with fur(reasons to hate the weaker vessel). Throw that fur coat with some warm jeggings and some knee-length boots and VOILA you the dude magnet of the night.

Managed to steal some collections from ALDO COLOMBO for their women's collection Fall 2015. Did the same from TWEEN men's collection at Istanbul Fashion Week Fall 2015.

So ladies and gentlemen let's be warm and still look uber this cmng winter
