Its been hell of the past two weeks our beloved fashionistas. We quite sure you've been missing us as much as we've missed you but well life has its happenings that we cant control. We just thankful that we back on track and back with more than a bang but a big boom.

Its countdown folks. The excitement is on its climax. Its just days to go and the whole of Zimbabwe is getting ready for the biggest fashion event. If you call yourself a fashionista, then you know what I'm talking about. The much anticipated Zimbabwe Fashion Week is here and we can breathe it. This annual event draws fashionistas from all corners of the country  and showcases the best of Zimbabwean talent when it comes to fashion designing. We've seen international names also coming through and thats why its been duped the biggest fashion event of the country.

A couple of days back the nominations where announced and we saw the big names in the fashion industry being mentioned in different categories,,and yes of course we were nominated for the Blogger of the Year(so honoured). We also saw categories like Style Icon of the Year where names like our one and only Welsh the Stylist competing with the likes of Craig Zoowie and Gilmore Tee. One thing we can say is this time around,Bulawayo was really represented which shows that the city is really uping its fashion game.

This years edition will see the famous singer Oliver Mtukudzi showcasing his own label and also performing at the event. To our disappointment folks, the one lady whom we were all looking forward to see had to postpone her trip to next year. Farai Simoyi who's the head designer of American songstress Nicki Minaj was supposed to headline the event but had to postpone her trip.

With this years edition themed "Fashion Redefined" we all cant wait to see what our fashion creatives have in stock for us.

Ooh yes and for those who want to vote for their favourite nominees in different categories, all you have to do is go to the Facebook page "Zimbabwe Fashion Week" and send the name of the category and name of nominee. So get voting folks and see you at Grand Palm Estate.

Fashion Friday With Blessed Nkosi

Friday...... A day folks which we all look forward to. Jus like all the weeks, having a chat with the fashion gods and goddesses is what we aim and we couldn't give you less this week. Blessed Nkosi, head designer of White Cotton gave us a bit of his time and we couldn't be more than  happy and decided to spend it wisely.
Having loved to know his personal style, this is how he responded:

"I am more of a formal and semi casual person. I feel more comfortable and confident in formal and it depicts a certain image bout oneself..it says i am a responsible and mature person and it meks my job easier when dealing with clients who want to bring in big orders..image is most vital"

Sophisticated gentleman look. Mmhm I'm quite sure we have a gentleman here and being a head designer of an amazing label like that, he doesn't have to put much effort. We then asked to know of his favourite designers internationally and locally, though I thought it was a bit of a challenge for him but this is is how he responded

"My favourite local and international designers, i wud sae here in Zim it's me ofcoz white cotton and abroad Tom Ford".

This got me cracked up a bit because I smelled so much positive vanity and I mean who could blame the gentleman with the sophisticated look. Way to go fashionista. Asked on what definition he'd give if asked to come up with one for Style, he simple said ELEGANCE. I wasn't surprised at all with his reputation. Sophistication comes with Elegance folks.
Lastly I asked for some fashion advice since this gentleman is the creator of fashion and he said.

"My advice wud be life is to short to be wearin boring clothes. Have fun en play around with color. Be unique en set yo own grand. Basically i wud love to see pipo do denim en khakhi shorts with gladiators and Panama hats".

OK folks, this is definitely on my 'next look'  lists. I'm trying khaki shorts, gladiators and Panama hats.

This is all we had for you this week folks with this fashionista. Have a fashionable week

Trendy Ripped Jeans

Having observed in the past couple of months, there has been a new trend in the denim world. Peeps have adopted to modifying their denim pants into something more.... intriguing. If you, like me, follow fashion wholeheartedly you would have realised that if u don't own a pair of ripped jeans, well there must be something wrong.

I got to talk to a few individuals to get to understand this not-so-knew but fascinating trend and I realised that people do it for different reasons.

"I thnk they been hot since the 80s and they were put on e map by famous rockstars and a lotta peeps are down with the culture " said one Byo based designer. So this trend not only has it been there for generations but each time it surfaces it comes with different styles.

I decided to take it to the street to get views on this trend and this is what I got:

" Well its the "it" nowadays and if you look at most music videos and you'll  see someone rocking them. I thnk they dope though with timberz" said one Andy. So I guess it's all about someone's style on how you can rock them.

And then I asked one good friend whom I've realised is very trendy and he was like "they awesome,am a fan. I am a fashion orienteted person...I love funky, trying diff things...They def a yeah yeah for me... Always dare to be different"

I then decided, why can't I get myself a pair and rocked them on a Saturday night out. The reactions were super amazing. I had them on with hi-cut All Blacks sneakers, black tees and all positive comments came pouring in.

Folks make this your new investment and you won't regret it. Find a way to rock them the right way and you'll have heads turning
